Health Services Division Secretary Abdul Mannan's wife Kamrunnahar has died of Covid-19 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
"Kamrunnahar breathed her last at 12:30am on Sunday," Personal Secretary to Abdul Mannan confirmed, reports UNB.
She was admitted to the hospital on June 10 after getting infected with coronavirus, he added.
Earlier on June 4, Abdul Mannan, chairman of the Land Reform Board, was made the secretary to the Health Services Division.
Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new strain of coronavirus, has claimed 1,139 lives and infected 84,379 people in Bangladesh as of June 13.
