The director of the Department of Women Affairs has died from Covid-19 infection.
Md Fakhrul Kabir breathed his last at a city hospital around 2:30am on Tuesday.
A press release from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs confirmed the matter.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, MP, and Secretary Kazi Rowshan Akhter mourned his demise.
Fakhrul, a joint secretary and a 13th BCS (admin) member, tested Covid-19 positive at the beginning of this month. He was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and later, was shifted to Square Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
His wife is also Covid-19 positive and is in isolation at home.
