Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan has said the government is taking necessary steps to send back the Rohingya refugees who have been stranded at the zero point in Tambru on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
He made the statement while talking to reporters after emerging from a program at Meghla Resort in Bandarban on Wednesday.
Over 6,500 Rohingya have been stuck in Tambru’s no man’s land since communal violence flared up in Myanmar’s volatile Rakhine state in August last year.

The Rohingya refugees living in the no man’s land between Myanmar’s Tambru and Bangladesh’s Konapara has been protesting the repatriation process.
Staging demonstrations on February 17 and 18, the stranded refugees said they want the Myanmar government to accede to their demands, including ensuring their safety and rights, before they are sent back.
