A Dhaka Court on Wednesday rejected bail petitions of three accused including the son of Syed Abed Ali, the prime accused in a case filed over the leaking questions of government job exams.
The accused are Syed Abed Ali's son Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam, and two brothers Md Sakhawat Hossain and Sayem Hossain.
Of them, Sakhawat and Sayem on Tuesday gave confessional statements before two separate metropolitan magistrates admitting their involvement with leaking questions of government job exams.
Besides, four accused -- Syed Abed Ali, former Public Service Commission (PSC) driver, and PSC officials Md Khalilur Rahman, Md Sajedul Islam and Liton Sarkar -- gave confessional statements before four other magistrates.
Another court sent the rest 11 accused to jail.
They are- Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam, the son of Syed Abed Ali, the driver of the former chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC), PSC’s suspended deputy directors Md Abu Zafor and Md Jahangir Alam, suspended assistant director Md Alamgir Kabir, Ex-army member Noman Siddiqui, suspended auditor Priyanath Roy, businessman Md Zahidul Islam, Narayanganj passport office security guard Shahadat Hossain, Dhaka immigration and passport office employee Md Mamunur Rashid and Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital medical technician Md Niamun Hasan and Abu Soleman Md Sohel.
The Criminal Investigation Department filed a case with the Paltan Police Station on Monday following the arrest of 17 people.
In the case, the names of 31 people have been mentioned and more than 50 unknown people have been made accused.
A private television channel aired an investigation report on Sunday evening which uncovered the the scandal involving leaked question papers for 30 recruitment exams, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
According to the report, a syndicate of six suspended officials and employees of the PSC had been involved in leaking exam questions for a long time.
