The exhibition, a competitive national-level event, was jointly organized by the Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts and the Oriental Painting Study Group (OPSG).

This exhibition, held annually, is a significant platform for artists in Bangladesh, attracting hundreds of submissions from across the country.

A rigorous selection process led to the final showcase of 54 outstanding artists, representing a diverse range of artistic styles and themes.

The award ceremony took place on January 18, at Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts and was attended by distinguished guests, including renowned international artist Monirul Islam and Anis A Khan, a member of the board of governors, Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art.

Eminent artist Samar Majumdar, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka, Prof Dr Azharul Islam Sheikh, founder of HerStory Foundation, Zerin Mahmud Hossain, and Mikhail Idris Islam, chief adviser of OPSG, also attended.

The event was presided over by Neeloo Rowshon Murshed, chairperson of Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts.

The OPSG Award is one of the most sought-after honours in Bangladesh’s contemporary art scene.

Hundreds of talented artists submitted their works, but only a select few were chosen after a meticulous evaluation by a panel of esteemed judges.

The competition aims to showcase a diverse range of artistic expressions rooted in Bangladesh’s folk heritage, royal traditions, and contemporary oriental painting techniques and recognize innovation, technical excellence, and artistic depth.

Among the five artists awarded this year, Hasura Akther Rumky stood out for her exceptional creativity and mastery of materials. Other recipients of the award included Nazmul Haque Bappi, Saurav Ghosh, Shahanur Mamun, and Md Badsh Harun-Noor Rashid.

Each artist was honoured with a commemorative plaque and a monetary prize.
