Two baseball players from Bangladesh, Md. Shahid Ahmed and Md. Mosabberul have been selected to play and train at Japan's Hokkaido Baseball League team Asahikawa B Stars.

This is the first time Bangladeshi baseball players have been selected to play at a foreign league or club.

Shahid was the captain of the Bangladesh side in their last tournament, the West Asia Cup, and Mosabberul was a playing member on that team.

Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association general secretary Aminul Islam Liton announced the two players' names last Saturday after the Bangladesh national baseball team's practice session at Rajarbagh Police Line field.

Bangladesh national baseball team head coach Hiroki Watanabe was also there.

According to the press release, the two players will travel to Japan in the first week of August.

They will train there for three months and also take part in a few matches for Asahikawa B Stars in the Hokkaido Baseball League.

They will return home after the league ends in October.
