Third BOA executive committee meeting held

Number of decisions taken in Ex-Co meeting

The third meeting of the Bangladesh Olympic Association's executive committee was held Thursday at Army Multipurpose Complex, Dhaka Cantonment with Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army and BOA president General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed in chair.

A number of decisions were taken in the Ex-Co meeting which are as follows:

Bangladesh contingent, scheduled to take part in seven disciplines in the 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games, will leave the country for Birmingham in groups from July 20 to August 2 this year and return to Bangladesh in batches after the Games from August 2-10.

Bangladesh team, set to partake in 11 disciplines in the fifth instalment of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, will depart in similar fashion for Turkey from August 3-15 and return home from August 12-19.

It was decided that a steering committee will be set up for the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games, which will be held in Dhaka from October/November this year till February/March next year.

Olympic Day will be held in July next year to commemorate the anniversary of the formation of the International Olympic Committee. 

In order to facilitate the daily activities of the BOA, a total of nine sub-committees were also set up – sports and environment sub-committee, women’s commission, sports for all sub-committee, federation coordination sub-committee, athletes sub-committee, laws and regulations sub-committee, discipline sub-committee, marketing, sponsor, culture and Olympic heritage sub-committee and international relation sub-committee.

Six sub-committees were earlier drafted on March 24 this year in the second executive committee meeting - training and development sub-committee, solidarity sub-committee, information and media sub-committee, administration and purchase sub-committee, medical and anti doping sub-committee and finance, audit, planning and budget sub-committee.

An election will take place to elect two executive committee members of the BOA in the categories multi games and Ministry for Youth and Sports.

General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, the 16th BOA president, began his term officially on December 24 last year as the chief of the country's olympic governing body.
