Saif Sporting Club’s Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman maintained his lead at the Omicon 44th National A Chess Championship following the eighth round Saturday.
Ziaur has seven points, one ahead of second placed International Master Abu Sufian Shakil of Bangladesh Navy.

Sheikh Russel Club’s Fide Master Mehedi Hasan Parag is third with 5.5 points while Bangladesh Navy’s IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin and Fide Master Khandakar Aminul Islam and Mymensingh’s Mohammad Jamal Uddin are tied for fourth place.
With 4.5 points, Sheikh Russel’s GM Reefat bin Sattar and Shawkat Hossain Pallab, Bangladesh Navy’s Fide Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, Uttara Central Club’s Candidate Master Subrata, Golden Sporting Club’s Anat Chowdhury and Rajbari’s Tahsin Tazwar Zia are joint fifth.
