Bangladesh began their 2019 AFC U-16 Women's Championship Qualifiers second round campaign with a resounding 10-0 win over Philippines at Mandalarthiri Stadium in Mandalay, Myanmar Wednesday.
Dominating the tie right from the word go, Bangladesh went into the first half break with a 6-0 lead against their Group B opponent.
Diminutive forward Tahura Khatun led the way with a four-goal haul.
Tahura opened the scoring in just the second minute with a placing shot from a Shamsunnahar Sr cross.
Bangladesh doubled the lead in the 17th minute as Tahura found the back of the net from a Maria Manda pass.
Shamsunnahar Sr made it 3-0 just a minute later while Tahura completed her treble in the 24th minute.
Tahura bagged her fourth goal, and Bangladesh’s fifth, in the 37th minute with another placing shot
Four minutes before the first half whistle, Shamsunnahar Sr grabbed Bangladesh’s sixth, and her second.
Bangladesh continued in the same vein in the second half as Nilufar Yasmin Nila made it 7-0 in the 47th minute.
Anuching Mogini and captain Maria scored in the 58th and 64th minute to complete the rout, the latter a goal of beauty.
Six minutes before the final whistle, Anuching hammered the final nail in the Philippines coffin.
Following the game, Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, "I am very happy the way my team played in the match. Our girls played the full game positively, and very hard from the beginning of the match. Our target is to go to the final round. Next game against host Myanmar will be very important."
The girls in red and green will take on host Myanmar Friday at the same venue before concluding their campaign against China Sunday.
The champion and runners-up of Group B will advance to the eight-team final round, scheduled to be hosted by Thailand later this year, where the home side, North Korea, South Korea and Japan lie in wait. Group A comprises Australia, Laos, Vietnam and Iran.
Earlier, Bangladesh qualified for the second round after finishing as Group F champion in the first round.
