Tahura Khatun scored a hat-trick as Rajshahi Stars FC ended their AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27 Preliminary Stage campaign in style with an emphatic 8-0 victory over Rovers FC of Guam on Sunday.
The Group A match at Likas Stadium saw the Bangladeshi side dominate from start to finish, with Shamsunnahar Jr. also scoring twice as Rajshahi Stars secured a confidence-boosting win in their debut continental campaign.
Rajshahi had already been eliminated from contention for a place in the main tournament after losing their opening two group matches, but head coach Golam Robbani’s side responded strongly to finish their campaign on a positive note.
Shamsunnahar opened the scoring in the third minute with a long-range effort from around 30 yards. Her speculative shot slipped through the hands of Rovers goalkeeper Jae Almonte and found the back of the net.
Rajshahi doubled their advantage in the 17th minute when Tahura side-footed home from close range after Sultana surged down the left and delivered a dangerous cross.
Tahura struck again eight minutes later, finishing from close range after Shamsunnahar sent a low ball across the face of goal to give Rajshahi a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.
The Bangladesh side continued their relentless pressure after the break and added two goals in quick succession.
Rovers defender Marlena Connelley inadvertently turned the ball into her own net in the 53rd minute before Monika Chakma made it 5-0 moments later.
Tahura completed her hat-trick in the 60th minute, further underlining her impact in the final match of the campaign.
Shamsunnahar then added her second in the 71st minute before Shamsunnahar Sr completed the rout deep into stoppage time, scoring in the fifth minute of added time.
The comprehensive victory gave Rajshahi Stars a memorable finish to their first AFC Women’s Champions League appearance, although their earlier defeats meant they could not progress to the main tournament stage.
