South Zone, who are playing against North Zone are in an excellent position after the third day of their final Bangladesh Cricket League match, at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. If they win today they will become the champion.

North Zone finished the penultimate day with 186/5 in their second innings, leading by 62 runs with only five wickets remaining.

Anamul Haque, the highest run-scorer in the league, failed to convert his innings to a double century after resuming on 155, but his 180-run innings helped South post 541 on the board and take a 248-run lead.

Left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam finished with a figure of 6/156 but that was not enough to resist the downfall of his side North, who lost five wickets in their second innings, and need to show a lot of character to salvage the match.

Naeem Islam and Junaid Siddqui, the second and third highest scorer of the league, made 67 and 77 respectively but five different South bowlers took one wicket apiece to keep their side on the driving seat.

BRIEF SCORE
