Right-arm pacer Saifuddin stole the show on the opening day of the Bangladesh Cricket League one-day version Sunday.
Saifuddin, playing for BCB North Zone in the four-team competition, bagged five wickets in the first-round game against BCB South Zone, but his side lost the game by 72 runs at BKSP.
Batting first, South Zone posted 199 runs, riding on half-centuries from opener Mohammad Naim and Towhid Hridoy.
Naim added 54 off 66 while Towhid scored a 71-ball 66, involving four boundaries and two over-boundaries.
Saifuddin, with the help of the early wicket condition, picked up five wickets conceding just 30 runs in eight overs.
The right-arm seamer cum batter was not part of the Bangladesh team in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, but is now in consideration to make a return to the national fold for the upcoming home series against India in December.
Chasing the target, North Zone could post only 127 before losing 10 wickets in 29.3 overs.
Shamim Hossain's 42 was the best of the innings as spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz took five scalps for South Zone.
In the second game of the day, Islami Bank East Zone secured a 114-run win over Walton Central Zone.
Taking first guard, East Zone saw Yasir Ali Chowdhury score 80 off 73, and boost the total to 254, before losing the last wicket in the final over of the innings.
The star-studded East Zone also feature Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim.
Tamim perished for 18, while captain Mushfiq added 44.
In pursuit of the target, Central Zone were restricted to just 140 as pacer Ebadat Hossain grabbed four wickets for East Zone.
Rejaur Rahman Raja and Mahedi Hasan bagged three wickets each.
