East Zone finally clinched their maiden Bangladesh Cricket League title in the 11th edition of the country’s second first-class tournament following the conclusion of the third and final round Wednesday.
The champions finished with 20 points, 10 ahead of runners-up side Central Zone, while North Zone and South Zone ended with four points each.
South Zone are record six-time winners of the competition, followed by Central Zone with three and North Zone and East Zone with one apiece.
Right-arm pacer Khaled Ahmed was this edition’s highest wicket-taker with 18 scalps from four innings at an average of 10.83, while veteran right-handed batter Naeem Islam topped the run-scorers’ list with 244 from four trips to the crease at an average of 61.
East Zone received Tk20 lakhs as prize money while Khaled got Tk1 lakh each for being the highest wicket-taker and best player.
