Honours even in East-South tie

East Zone started the day at 204/4 with Yasir Ali and Mahmudul Hasan not out on 70 and 13 runs respectively but Yasir would be dismissed on the very first ball of the day by South Zone’s fast bowler Shafiul Islam.

It was honours even between Islami Bank East Zone and Prime Bank South Zone after the third day on their fifth round Bangladesh Cricket League match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Thursday. 

South Zone scored 136/3 in reply to East Zone’s 262/8d. 

East Zone started the day at 204/4 with Yasir Ali and Mahmudul Hasan not out on 70 and 13 runs respectively but Yasir would be dismissed on the very first ball of the day by South Zone’s fast bowler Shafiul Islam.

New batsman Zakir Hasan did not last long as he scored 15 before being trapped in front by Abdur Razzak, with the score on 228/6. 

Mahmudul and Farhad Reza took the score to 250 before Mahmudul became the seventh wicket to fall off the bowling of Al-Amin Hossain. 

Al-Amin was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/26 for South Zone as he dismissed Farhad Reza by trapping him in front for 19. 

With the score at 262 and 83.4 overs played, East Zone captain Mominul Haque decided to declare, in an effort to force a result.

In reply, South Zone lost opener Anamul Haque for five as Farhad Reza bowled him with the score at only seven. 

From there other opener Fazle Mahmud and Raqibul Hasan formed a 57-run partnership before Raqibul was dismissed for 25 with the score at 64/2.

Al-Amin departed next scoring just two to give Abu Jayed his first wicket and the score at 72. 

That would be the last wicket to fall in the day as Tushar Imran and Fazle took the score to 136/3 scoring 29 and 57 respectively. 

South Zone will start the fourth and last day trailing by 126 runs and with seven wickets in hand, as the match seems poised for a draw.
