Star Cineplex marked its 22nd anniversary on October 8 with a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer for moviegoers across its branches.
According to a press release, the offer applied to all film screenings on Thursday, with tickets required to be purchased directly from cinema counters. The promotion was valid for October 8 only.
The multiplex chain also invited audiences to share their favorite cinema memories on its official Facebook page for a chance to win a free movie voucher.
Star Cineplex spokesperson Mesbah Uddin Ahmed thanked audiences for supporting the multiplex over the years and said their response had driven its growth.
He also expressed hope that more quality Bangladeshi films would be produced regularly, allowing local cinemas to attract audiences with domestic productions alongside foreign releases.
Star Cineplex began operations on October 8, 2004, as Bangladesh’s first multiplex cinema. It introduced modern screening facilities and helped expand access to Hollywood films around their international release dates.
The chain currently operates branches at Bashundhara City Shopping Mall, Shimanto Shambhar in Dhanmondi, SKS Tower in Mohakhali, the Military Museum, Sony Square in Mirpur, and Centrepoint in Uttara. It also has a branch at Shimanto Tower in Narayanganj and two branches in Chittagong, at Bali Arcade and Finlay Square.
According to the press release, the company is preparing to open new branches in Bogra and Rajshahi later this year.
