Bangladesh Nationalist Party is set to organize a concert on Victory Day at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.
On Tuesday morning, at a press conference at Uday Tower in Gulshan, the Joint Secretary general of the BNP and the organiser of the Universal Concert, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee made the announcement.
He said: "For the past 15 to 16 years, the people of Bangladesh have been unable to celebrate Victory Day. They have faced oppression and injustice under the fascist Awami League government. Therefore, we have taken the initiative to celebrate this Victory Day by uniting the nation."
"On this Victory Day, we will present ourselves to the people of Bangladesh and the new generation with new hopes and a fresh approach. The concert will be held at Manik Mia Avenue from 3 PM on December 16."
The concert will feature solo performances by artists Syed Abdul Hadi, Khurshid Alam, Kanak Chapa, Baby Naznin, Monir Khan, Kona, Imran, Pritom, Moushumi, and Xefer.
The concert will also feature performances by bands including Nagarbaul, Ark, Shironamhin, Artcell, Shonar Bangla Circus, Avoid Rafa, Different Touch and Souls.
The organisers confirmed that no foreign artists will be brought in for the concert.
The organisation ‘Sobar Agey Bangladesh’ made its public debut with the press conference on Tuesday, committed to preserving the country’s culture.
Anee added: “Sobar Agey Bangladesh is a social and cultural organisation. We are trying to unite the youth, students, and the people of the country by prioritizing our indigenous culture.”
"We must preserve Bangladesh's own culture. Bangladesh gained independence not to be subservient to Delhi. Our journey has begun with the aim of showcasing Bangladesh's unique culture to the new generation."
The press conference was attended by BNP leaders Rashiduzzaman Millat, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, President of the Nationalist Swecchasebak Dal SM Jilani, General Secretary of the Jubo Dal Nurul Islam Nayan, Media Cell members Atikur Rahman Ruman, Zahidul Islam Rony, and Ehsan Mahmud.
