The Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) is set to release Cine'ta Roundtable, the country’s first-ever roundtable discussion featuring some of Bangladesh’s most influential filmmakers.
Premiering on November 20, 2024, this landmark event will bring together a panel of renowned directors to explore key topics in the world of filmmaking, including creative processes, the rise of technology in cinema, and the pursuit of truth through storytelling.
The roundtable, an initiative of DIMFF and a ULAB-led outreach program, will feature a distinguished group of filmmakers known for their pioneering contributions to Bangladeshi cinema.
Directors Giasuddin Selim, Matin Rahman, Raihan Rafi, Taneem Rahman Angshu, Masud Hasan Ujjal, Shabnam Ferdousi, and Anam Biswas are set to engage in a candid discussion about their artistic journeys, creative philosophies, and the challenges they face in the ever-evolving film industry.
During the discussion, the filmmakers will reflect on the balance between artistic freedom and commercial pressures, the growing influence of technology on the filmmaking process, and the importance of audience engagement in shaping the direction of contemporary cinema.
They will also address the realities of truth-telling and representation in film, shedding light on how their works attempt to reflect the complexities of society.
With works that have resonated deeply with audiences and pushed the boundaries of Bangladeshi cinema, the featured directors will offer unique insights into the evolving landscape of the film industry, providing viewers with an intimate look at the creative process behind their acclaimed works.
