“It would have been better, if it was Mimi who was raped”, “Send Mimi to my house”- these are only some of the comments left by netizens on Mimi’s socials. Former Trinamool Member of Parliament actress Mimi Chakraborty took to the streets to protest this incident.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee offered a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim's family in the Kolkata RG kar case. When Mimi shared a post about it, she was threatened with rape in the comment section of this post.
After this incident, Mimi Chakraborty lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Department of Kolkata Police. Mimi posted about this complaint on X, formerly known as Twitter. The actress wrote that the cyber-crime department helped her. A FIR (case) has been filed in this regard. All those accounts have been permanently de-activated. Police are trying to trace the two main accused. Because they deleted all comments.
Earlier, sharing a screenshot of the rape threat, the "Toofan" actress wrote, "Is this what we are fighting for? We are seeking justice for a woman, right? Rape threats have become rampant. They are again mixing in the crowd showing solidarity with women! What kind of behaviour is this?"
