  • She says character required intense physical reactions in scene

A storm is swirling in the showbiz arena after actress Tanjin Tisha addressed allegations made by co-star Samia Othoi over an on-set altercation.

Breaking her silence, Tisha told the media that her actions during filming were strictly part of the character she was portraying and not a personal attack.

“I played my character completely,” the actress said. “In the story, I portray a special child who can hit someone, bite, or even push someone into water if the situation demands. Whatever I did was required by the script.”

The actress insisted that nothing she did went beyond the demands of the role, suggesting the incident has been misunderstood.

According to Tisha, the scene required intense physical reactions and she followed the director’s instructions accordingly.

“She may have felt that I attacked her personally, but that is not the case,” Tisha said, referring to Samia Athair’s allegations.

“Everything was done for the needs of the character. I did nothing outside the script.”

Tisha further questioned why the complaint emerged publicly, noting that several senior artists were present on set during the shoot.

“Many others witnessed the scene and none of them raised any concerns. I do not understand why this has been turned into an issue. It feels like an attempt to create controversy,” she added.

The controversy erupted after Samia Othoi went live on Facebook, claiming that Tisha slapped her multiple times during filming. While acknowledging that the scene required a light slap, Othoi alleged that the blows became real and left her injured.

Visibly emotional during the livestream, she said her eyes had swollen and her hands were hurt, adding that she could not accept what happened and was demanding justice.

The drama in question is directed by Rafat Majumder and features a cast including Shahiduzzaman Selim, Momena Chowdhury and Mir Rabbi.

Veteran actor Selim downplayed the situation, saying minor incidents on sets are often amplified in the media.

“These things can usually be resolved through discussion,” he said. “I later heard Samia had left the set. I called her, she cried initially and then hung up.”

For now, the incident has ignited intense debate across the entertainment industry, with many waiting to see whether the controversy subsides once the drama finally reaches audiences.
