Marzuk Russell files complaint against provocative fake Facebook account

Russell has spoken about these issues before but no solution was found

Update : 28 Jul 2024, 09:11 PM

Marzuk Russell has been winning hearts for more than three decades sometimes through song, sometimes through poetry, and sometimes through acting. This is further shown with his following on social media.

But fame comes at a cost, and Russell had to pay it. On Sunday July 28, he sat with Additional Commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid to discuss this predicament.

He wasn’t summoned, instead he went willingly. For the past few days, Russell has been a victim of fake ids on Facebook, using his name and face to post anti-government incitements which has left fans confused.

Russell has spoken about these issues before but no solution was found, so he was basically pushed to issue a formal compliant at the DB office.

Russell said: "Provocative posts using my picture and name have been circulating for several days with which I have no relation or association. I am embarrassed about this. Most people are confused except those who know me, especially those who know in detail about my writings, acting, and lifestyle."

He further stated: "I have been in this industry for 30-35 years. My friends and colleagues know what I can and can't post. But many people misunderstood me because of these posts because they don't know me. I've talked to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid about the provocative posts from the page.”

Marzuk said that he has one Facebook ID and page. He is trying to verify it.

Marjuk Russell had earlier verbally complained to the Cybercrime Department about the same problem. He last complained on August 18 last year. On the same day, he said: "Unpleasant posts are being given from multiple fake pages and ids. Fans are getting confused by this. I do not know who is running these fake pages."
