Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, best known for his performances in Ghajini and Lagaan, has died at the age of 74 after battling cancer.
The news was confirmed on Tuesday by his manager, Siddharth Tiwari, who told Hindustan Times that Rawat's cancer had relapsed.
"He was suffering from cancer, and it had relapsed. He died a few hours back," Tiwari said.
Actor Yashpal Sharma also confirmed the news in an Instagram post, paying tribute to his longtime colleague.
According to Hindustan Times, Rawat had been hospitalized for more than a month before his death. He is survived by his wife and son, Vikramaditya.
Over a career spanning more than 4 decades, Rawat worked across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Nepali cinema. He first gained recognition on television for portraying Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra's Mahabharat before establishing himself as one of Indian cinema's most recognizable character actors.
Rawat became widely known for playing antagonist roles and earned acclaim for his performances in films including Lagaan, Ghajini, Sye, and Rowdy Rathore, as well as several Telugu blockbusters.
