Voters of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti are casting their ballots amid tight security to elect the new executive committee for 2024-26 period of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

The voting began at 9am and will continue until 5pm on Friday.

Last year's elections were endlessly debated and criticized. This time, the impression of increased security and preparation is clear.

Even the access of journalists to the FDC on election day is complicated. Journalists have to collect news according to that.

From the morning of polling, FDC has been activated in the march of artists. Even in the last two years, those who haven't set foot in FDC, have also come to cast their vote and meet with longtime colleagues.

Expectations of those concerned, such a festive atmosphere will prevail in FDC even after the polling.

This time the number of voters in the election is 570. Their votes will determine who will be the leader of artists for the next two years (2024-2026).

Producer Khorshed Alam Khosru is serving as Chief Election Commissioner in this election. AJ Rana and BH Nishan are serving as members.

Two panels are contesting the elections. One is the Koli-Nipun Parishad, and the other is the Misha-Dipjol Parishad.

Among them, once-popular hero Mahmud Koli and villain Misha Sawdagar are contesting for the post of president.

And like the previous year, heroine Nipun Akhtar and villain Dipjol are fighting for the post of general secretary.

Bappi Saha as deputy general secretary, Anjana Rahman as organizing secretary, Maruf Aqib as international affairs secretary, Kabila as office and publicity secretary, Mamnun Hasan Emon as culture and sports secretary and Azad Khan as treasurer.
