Eleven years ago, the late legendary lyricist, producer, and director Gazi Mazharul Anwar created the biopic "Aposhhin" about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, featuring Nipun Akter as Khaleda Zia and Helal Khan as Ziaur Rahman.
Now, after 11 years, the film is set to be released.
Helal Khan has informed the media that the release of the film is being planned and expressed his desire to meet Khaleda Zia before the film's release.
He said: "Madam is unwell. It wouldn't be appropriate to discuss this right now. Once she is better, I will discuss the film with her. Whatever decision she makes will be final."
Meanwhile, actress Nipun, who is featured in the film, shared the behind-the-scenes story of how she became involved. She recounted: “One day, Gazi Mazharul Anwar uncle came to my house and mentioned the film. At that time, I was shooting for Shah Alam Kiron Bhai’s film '71-er Maa Jononi. Uncle told me that the film is about Madam Khaleda Zia's life and asked if I had any objections to portraying her.
“I agreed, as portraying Madam, a former Prime Minister and an active opposition leader, was an honour. Uncle was very pleased with my agreement,” she added.
Nipun also said that the shooting of the film was done somewhat secretly.
“Initially, there were talks of Jaya Ahsan and Nusrat Imrose Tisha being considered for the role, but Uncle Gazi felt I resembled Madam’s appearance perfectly,” she said.
Sarfaraz Anwar, the son of the late director Mazharul Anwar, shared that his father had many dreams for the film.
He said, “As a family, we have taken the initiative to ensure that all of my father’s creations reach the public. This is his last film, and seeing it will bring peace to his soul.
“This film is not just a movie but a biopic of the former president Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. It will allow viewers to understand their love, sacrifice, and glory for the country,” he added.
