Oscars Bangladesh Committee selected Mohammad Rabbi Mridha's debut film "Payer Tolay Mati Nai," as the official submission from Bangladesh to compete for a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category of the 96th Academy Awards.
"Payer Tolay Mati Nai," and Mashroor Parvez's “Going Home” were originally submitted when Bangladeshi films were invited for nominations at the Oscars.
On September 23, the committee chose ‘Payer Tolay Mati Nai,’ out of the two submissions. The film portrays the environmental impact on the lives of people living in areas most impacted by natural calamities.
The nominees for the 96th Academy Awards organised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be announced on January 23, 2024.
Rosalin Dipannita Martin, Mostafa Monwar, Priyam Archi, Rocky Chowdury, among others have acted in the film produced by filmmaker Abu Shahed Iman.
