The Oscar Bangladesh Committee has invited applications from local producers and directors to select Bangladesh’s entry for the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
Applications must be submitted by September 16, 2026. The selected film will represent Bangladesh at the Oscars under the rules of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
To qualify, films must be longer than 40 minutes and can be narrative features, animations, or documentaries. More than 50% of the original dialogue must be in a Bangladeshi language, with accurate English subtitles.
Eligible films must have been commercially released in a Bangladeshi cinema between October 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026, with screenings held for at least 7 consecutive days at the same venue.
Films that were publicly released before their theatrical run, including on television, pay-per-view, over-the-top (OTT) platforms, streaming services, DVD, aircraft, or the internet, will not qualify.
Bangladeshi citizens or permanent residents must primarily hold the film’s creative control. Applicants must also meet all eligibility requirements set by the Academy.
The committee said that applications containing incorrect or incomplete information, or that fail to meet the Academy’s rules, may be rejected.
The selected film will be announced on September 27 at 11am at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
