HBO has renewed “It: Welcome to Derry” for a second season, with the series set to explore another chapter in Stephen King’s horror universe.
The first season, which premiered in October 2025, served as a prequel to the “It” films released in 2017 and 2019. It explored earlier encounters between the residents of Derry, Maine, and the shape-shifting entity Pennywise.
Season two will be set in 1935 during the Great Depression and will focus on the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who arrive in Derry to buy ammunition and encounter a supernatural threat.
The Bradley Gang Massacre is one of the interludes featured in King’s 1986 novel "It."
Brad Caleb Kane, who co-showran the first season with Jason Fuchs, will serve as the sole showrunner for the new season. Casting details have not yet been announced.
Bill Skarsgård played Pennywise in the first season, alongside Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso.
Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs developed the series for television. Muschietti will continue as an executive producer alongside Barbara Muschietti, Kane, and others.
