International Children's Film Festival announces winners

The 16th International Children's Film Festival came to a close with the award ceremony held September 9 at the Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium.

The 16th International Children's Film Festival came to a close with the award ceremony held September 9 at the Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium.

The event organised by the Children's Film Society Bangladesh saw five winners in two competition categories this year. 

In the “Bangladeshi Childrens’ Film Directors’” category, Amitrakshar Biswas’s “Lullaby” and Mohammad Niaz Hasan's “Order” were awarded the first and second prize respectively. Irtiza Alam Joyeeta and Aminul Islam Niloy jointly received the third prize for “Euphoric Paranoia” in the same category.  

Mustaq Mujahid’s “Traditional” and Novera Hasan Nikkan “Aguan Sun Behind the Horizon” won the first and second prize in the “Bangladeshi Youth Filmmakers" category respectively.

Bangladeshi actor and politician Asaduzzaman Noor, the chief guest of the event, said while handing over the awards, "While children are progressing in sports, the progress in culture and education is slow. I look forward to establishing a closer relationship with Children's Film Society Bangladesh for the development of children's culture.”

More than 2,700 films were submitted in the “International Children's Filmmakers" category. Besides, 35 films were submitted in the “Bangladeshi Youth Filmmakers", of which 15 films were screened

The three-day International Children's Film Festival began on September 7 with the slogan "Framey Framey, Agamir Swapno” (Future in Frames).
