Actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak was banned from all forms of drama-telefilm work for three months by the organisation “Directors Guild”.
Directors Guild general secretary Kamruzzaman Sagar announced during a press conference on August 21.
Reading out the declaration at the press conference Kamruzzaman stated, “Members of the Directors’ Guild will not work with Rukaiya Jahan Chamak on any productions in television and digital media for the next three months starting September 1.”
On August 4, an incident on the set of the drama "Shoshur Barite Prothom Din” led to police intervention. It is alleged that Actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak misbehaved with the producers and co-stars.
Chamak was also ordered to pay financial compensation for the incident. The message of the organisation notes, “By August 30, the financial losses of the producers will have to be paid and the GD must be withdrawn from the police station. If not obeyed, a new decision will be announced.”
The Directors’ Guild has made it clear that any producer found to be working with the actress during this period will have organisational action taken against them as well.
The Audio Visual Technical Owners Association, Shooting Light Owners Association, Shooting House Owners Association, Bangladesh Television Media Production Manager Association, Shooting Lineman Association and Shooting Unit Microbus Drivers Association have expressed their solidarity with the decision.
