The trailer for the movie “Hubba” starring Mosharraf Karim directed by Bratya Basu dropped July 23.
The release date has yet to be announced but sources indicate it will be “soon”. Karim made his Kolkata film debut with the same director through the film “Dictionary”.
Bratya Basu states on the film, “This film is a mixture of thriller and comedy. Hubba Shyamal was known as 'Dawood Ibrahim of Hooghly'. I've attempted to portray the changing political situation and the underworld in this movie.”
“Hubba'' was produced by Firdausul Hasan, also the producer of Bratya-Mosharraf's previous film “Dictionary”. Hasan notes, “I believe that good movies are meant for the big screen. This is my second work with Bratya after 'Dictionary'. The amount of detail that Bratya goes into to make a movie is quite remarkable. We hope the audience will like our second venture as well.”
The film was announced back in 2021, two years later the first glimpse of the movie is finally out. In the 11 second trailer “Hubba” is seen with eight others, smiling with marigolds around his neck and a pistol in hand.
The story revolves around Shyamal Das also known as “Hubba Shyamal”, a notorious 1990's gangster from the Hooghly district of West Bengal. Shyamal was allegedly involved in an array of criminal activities including murder, fights, drug trafficking and so forth. There were numerous police cases in his name during his lifetime.
Hubba stood for political candidacy, after which his histrionic life finally came to an end in 2011. His body was found floating with multiple injuries with a sharp weapon in a canal at Baidyabati in Hooghly district of Kolkata.
