Trailer revealed for Viking revenge thriller ‘The Northman’

Trailer dropped for director Robert Eggers’ third feature film “The Northman,” starring Alexander Skarsgård in the lead role as a Nordic prince, seeking revenge for his father’s murder.
The star-studded cast also includes Nicole Kidman, Bill Skarsgård, Ralph Ineson, Willem Dafoe and Anya Taylor-Joy. Both Willem Dafoe and Anya Taylor-Joy have previously worked with Eggers in “The Lighthouse” and “The Witch.”
The Viking epic also marks the return of Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk after a 20-year hiatus. The iconic singer won the Best Actress Award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival for her debut acting role in Lars Bon Trier’s “Dancer in the Dark.”
Co-written by Eggers and Icelandic novelist Sjón Sigurdsson, the film has been officially described as “an epic revenge thriller that explores how far a Viking prince will go to seek justice for his murdered father.”
Filming began in Northern Ireland in March 2020; however production faced a few setbacks earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Taylor-Joy earlier said in an interview, “Robert and I have now been friends longer than we have been co-workers. Getting the opportunity to create art together again is amazing. We have both grown so much apart and now we get to grow back together. I am so proud to be a part of this project. Every moment on set I am proud. I think we will be presenting to the world something it genuinely hasn’t seen before. I just feel so humbled I get to be a part of it.”
The actor continued to sing the praises of the revered horror director, “It’s Robert Eggers! People showed up the first day of set and I was like, ‘You’re going to be cold, you’re never going to be comfortable, but it’s going to be amazing. That’s just the way it is.’”
Focus Features will release the film in April 2022
