“Don’t Look Up” director Adam McKay is producing the latest culinary mystery thriller “The Menu,” starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes.
Helmed by “Succession” director and executive producer Mark Mylod, the film is slated to open in theaters on November 18, 2022.
“The film is a darkly comedic psychological thriller set in the world of eccentric culinary culture, centering on a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island where an acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu. Taylor-Joy will play one half of the couple. Fiennes is playing the chef,” reads the official synopsis.
The cast also includes Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, Reed Birney, Paul Adelstein, Aimee Carrero, Arturo Castro, Mark St. Cyr, Rob Yang, and John Leguizam.
With regard to producing “The Menu,” McKay said, “The key to all of it is income inequality. If we could really solve that, it will solve our political problems and the climate crisis as well. That’s my soapbox.”
The late November release date implies that the team behind “The Menu” is targeting the upcoming Oscar season, looking toward bagging a few nominations.
