Music Appreciation Course kicks off at Shilpakala

The course aims to achieve excellence in music presentation, thinking and writing through music, musical terminology, aesthetic sense, reading, and practice.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organised the 5 days Music Appreciation Course from June 14 under the academy's guidance Director General, Liaquat Ali Lucky. 

The course aims to achieve excellence in music presentation, thinking and writing through music, musical terminology, aesthetic sense, reading, and practice.

On the first day Dr. Pradeep Nandi discussed the origin and development of Indian music. Later, Kaneez Simpi touched upon the styles of song Indian classical music. During the discussions, panellists overviewed various types of classical music, raga-based songs, and various genres of classical music.

Teacher and researcher, Dr. Komal Khalid is conducting the course, while instructor of the academy, Mr. Muhammad Anisur Rahman is coordinating. At the end of the 5-day course, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will provide certificates to the participants.

Aside from the history Indian and Bengali music, Eastern and Western music, aesthetics, Uchanga Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Folk Sangeet and Gana Sangeet, performance style, context and aesthetic sense were discussed. 

On June 15, Azizur Rahman Tuhin will discuss aesthetics, music and Biplab Sarkar will discuss similarities and differences between Indian music and Western music.

On June 16, Professor Dr. Kristi Hefaz will discuss the melody, aesthetics and song style of Rabindra Sangeet. 

On June 17, Khairul Anam Shakil and Dr. Idris Ali will discuss the music and singing styles in Nazrul Sangeet. 

On June 18, Dr. Kamal Khalid and Dr. Zahidul Kabir will discuss Bengali folk music and folk music performance style.
