5 Bangladeshi films to screen at Rainbow Film Festival UK

The 24th edition of the Rainbow International Film Festival will screen 5 Bangladeshi films, “Beauty Circus”, “Saatao”, “Damal”, “Paap Punyo” and “JK-1971”.

The 24th edition of the Rainbow International Film Festival will screen 5 Bangladeshi films, “Beauty Circus”, “Saatao”, “Damal”, “Paap Punyo” and “JK-1971”.

The festival organised by the Rainbow Society will be inaugurated on May 28 at Genesis Cinema Hall, Mile End Road, East London. The festival will continue until June 4. 

“Beauty Circus” will be shown on 29th May. 

“Saatao” on 30th May.

“Damal” on 31st June.

 “JK 1971”, a film based on Bangladesh's liberation war, will be screened at the Kenneth More Theater in Ilford on June 3.

On opening day, the Kolkata film 'Benche Thakar Gaan' will be screened. Afterwards, two films will be  screened at the Brady Arts Center on Hanbury Street in East London from May 29 to June 3.

A total of 45 films from different countries including Bangladesh, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, China will be screened in this eight-day festival.

Outside the festival, several films will also be available online at www.rainbowfilmssociety.com. These are Indian Bengali movies, “Abhijaan”, “Aparajito, “Ballabhpurer Roopkotha”, “Byomkesh Hatyamancha”, “Karnasubarner Guptodhon” and “The Eken”. 

The festival will host a female only day-long workshop on 'Women in Film' on June 3. The workshop will involve the techniques of acting, directing and editing short films. 

The annual festival traces its origins to London in 2000 under the initiative of Mustafa Kamal, Rainbow Film Society Director.
