Bollywood film “Pathaan” would not be released in Bangladesh theatres on May 5.
The movie has been submitted to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on Tuesday by the importing company Action-Cut Entertainment for release on May 5.
The film has not yet received clearance from the censor board as the board members are yet to watch the film.
Censor board member and producer Khorshed Alam Khosru said that the film is not being released on May 5 due to the application of the alliance of the film organization.
However, it was under the banner of this organization that there was a strong appeal for the release of Indian films in Bangladesh and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had agreed to it.
Khorshed Alam Khosru said: “There are two film shows tomorrow (Wednesday) – one in Bengali, one in English. Pathaan is not in the list. Then Thursday is a public holiday. As a result, the censor board will be closed on that day. In the meantime, the film association has also applied to postpone Pathaan by a week for the sake of the films released on Eid.”
So, Pathaan might get release on May 12, he added.
The importing company Action-Cut Entertainment could not be reached for comments in this regard.
Pathaan is a Bollywood movie which is directed by Siddharth Anand where Shah Rukh Khan played the role of an agent, along with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham was casted as the antagonist.
After its release, the movie smashed Indian box office records, bringing hope to Bollywood after a spate of weak showings.
