After 9 months of hanging, Nipun- Zayed controversy saw light at the end of the tunnel on the basis of 'provisional' verdict from the court.

The Appellate Division has suspended the High Court's verdict of approving Zayed Khan's candidacy, who initially was elected as the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association. At the same time, the court granted Nipun's leave to appeal against the judgment of the High Court.

The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order on November 21. According to Nipun's lawyers there is no obstacle for Nipun Akter to execute her duties as the general secretary of Film Artistes' Association 'for the time being'.

After 9 months of hanging, Nipun- Zayed controversy saw light at the end of the tunnel on the basis of 'provisional' verdict from the court. Nipun said, “I have been patient for nine long months. I was waiting for the verdict in favor of the truth. Finally the truth has won.”

On the contrary, Zayed Khan, former general secretary of BFAA, is still confident against Nipun's remarks. He is not satisfied with the latest verdict of the court. "The court just granted Nipun's leave to appeal. But the hearing is still impending," said Zayed Khan. “As the elected general secretary, I am expecting the verdict to be in my favor at the hearing.”

Previously, the High Court declared Zayed Khan as the general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association. Hoever, the chamber court adjourned it and maintained the status quo. Validating Nipun's authority over the position, the Appellate Division suspended the verdict of the High Court on November 21.

Advocate Ahsanul Karim and Nahid Sultana Juthi were present in the hearing on behalf of Zayed Khan. On the other hand, Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud represented Nipun Akter.
