An online workshop on climate change stories for young filmmakers from Bangladesh and Wales was recently organized by Dhaka DocLab in collaboration with Wales One World Film Festival. Eight young & emerging filmmakers from Bangladesh and Wales participated in this workshop with their documentary film projects.
Following the four day long workshop from 4-7 June, the filmmakers pitched their documentary film projects on 11 June to filmmakers, producers and film teachers from both Bangladesh and Wales. Out of these, four film projects were selected for funding support for completion of their projects.
From Bangladesh, “Dhuprajhiri,” directed by Asma Bithi and “Latika,” directed by Shamsul Islam Swapan were selected. From Wales, “Our Home, the Sea” and “She Sells Shellfish” were selected.
Selected documentary filmmakers will receive financial and technical support from Dhaka DocLab and Wales One World Film Festival. The premieres of these four films will be held at the Wales One World Film Festival in Wales, UK in March 2023. Renowned Indian filmmakers and teachers Nilotpal Majumder and Rita Banerjee, and Serbian filmmaker Boris Mitic participated in this four-day long workshop as tutors.
Dhaka DocLab and Wales One World Film Festival is implementing this Climate Stories Film project with financial support of British Council.
