Bangladeshi film receives Berlinale World Cinema Fund

The current funding of seven production grants amounts to a total of 260,000 euros.

Tanim Ibne Yousuf and Kawser Haider’s “Ghost Boat” has been selected for Berlinale World Cinema Fund’s production support.

The film’s production started in 2020 during the pandemic and they participated in the Development Category at Dhaka DocLab that year. Then in 2022 it was selected again for the Work-in-Progress Category and was nominated for the International Emerging Film Talents Association Award.

Later, renowned German producer Patrick Hamm hopped on board this production journey and now their next destination is Berlin.

The Berlinale World Cinema Fund (WCF) made seven funding recommendations for projects in six countries during their 41st jury session. The current funding of seven production grants amounts to a total of 260,000 euros.

“Ghost Boat” was selected among 199 projects.
