Dhaka DocLab awarded 6 projects on September 9. Out of these, 3 from were Bangladesh. The South Asian pitching platform has been encouraging young and upcoming documentarians since 2017.
Among the winners this year was Ahsabul Yamin’s “Sroter Gaan.” Piplu R Khan’s “Nomads of the North” and Sharmin Doza’s “A Journey Never Told” were awarded jointly. Both of them will get monetary assistance in documentary production.
The main goal of this was to encourage and inspire young filmmakers to create documentaries and build a connection with the international film scene.
“Sounds of the Past” by Ayoub Naseri and Evgeniya Vinpal of Iran will received 150k Tk of monetary assistance. Others include Filipino filmmaker Josh Lomahan’s “A Faithful Love”, which received 260k Tk. India's Ankita Upadhaya and Surbhi Dewan’s “I Fear My Tomorrow” will receive the same amount.
Directors from Canada, United Kingdom, Denmark, India, Lithuania, China, and Japan served as consultants to Dhaka Doclab.
