Shah Rukh Khan announced his next film “Dunki,” helmed by National Award-winning Indian director Rajkumar Hirani on Tuesday, April 19 with a hilarious video.
In the video, the King Khan asked Hirani if there was a project they could collaborate on. Hirani replied, “Only if you give up your signature pose.” SRK said, “I will happily chop off my arms to work with you.”
“Dunki,” will also star Taapsee Pannu in a prominent role. It is scheduled for a wide release in December 2023. Filming has already begun earlier this month.
Shah Rukh Khan called Hirani his Santa Claus on Twitter and added, “Dear @RajkumarHirani sir, feeling humbled & excited to finally work with you. Bringing to you all #Dunki in cinemas on 22nd December 2023.”
“Through the course of my career Shah Rukh Khan has always been on my wish list and after trying to collaborate several times in the past, we were finally destined to have ‘Dunki’ mark our partnership. The energy, charisma, humour and charm that he brings to a film is unparalleled and I look forward to bringing that magic to the big screen,” Hirani said in a statement.
“Raj Kumar Hirani is one of the finest filmmakers of this generation, we have always spoken about working together and I am extremely happy we are finally doing it with ‘Dunki’. We have just started shooting this month and I am cherishing every moment of it. Raju ke liye main Donkey, Monkey…kuch bhi ban sakta hoon,” said Shah Rukh Khan in a statement.
"Dunki" will be the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani.
Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s 2018 film “Zero.” He is currently working on “Pathaan” and “Lion.”
