Hollywood’s lust for keeping franchises alive is legendary to say the least. These days, the industry is investing in film projects and TV shows that go behind the scenes of era-defining films – a recent example being Paramount’s upcoming mini-series titled “The Offer.”
The ten-episode series will explore the making of Francis Ford Coppola‘s iconic The Godfather trilogy with Miles Teller in the role of film producer Al Ruddy.
Previously, Armie Hammer was cast to play Ruddy. He was dropped after multiple women accused him of sexual abuse and cannibalism.
The cast also includes Dan Fogler as director Francis Ford Coppola, Matthew Goode as Paramount Studios chief Robert Evans, and Juno Temple as Rudy’s secretary Bettye McCartt.
Series creator Michael Tolklin said, “What sealed it for me was when Al [Ruddy] said, ‘Every day of making ‘The Godfather’ was the worst day in my life,’ and that told me we had a show. For every character in the film, getting it made or stopping it from being made was at the core of their actions, and it was a matter of life and death to them.”
The series will premiere on April 28.
With Jake Gyllenhaal and Oscar Isaac set to play two Hollywood producers, a film about the making of The Godfather is also underway, joining the latest trend of releasing ‘making-of’ films.
