Afsana Mimi has been appointed as the new director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The three year contract with the government was signed on November 11.
Mimi blazed the small screen in the 90s as one of the most popular actors of her generation.She also starred in critically acclaimed films like Tanvir Mokammel's Chitra Nodir Pare and Nodir Nam Modhumoti.

Her production house, Green Screen, produced drama serials like Doll's House, Kacher Manush, Poush Falguner Pala, and so on. She has also dabbled in directing in recent years. She also runs Ichchhetola, a cultural centre for children in Uttara.
