The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is set to honour legendary singer Syed Abdul Hadi with a special recognition award in acknowledgement of his lifelong contribution to Bengali music.

The announcement was made through a press release issued by the Academy recently.

The honour and tribute ceremony will be held on June 12 at 6:00 pm at the National Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The event is being organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

According to the press release, the award recognises Syed Abdul Hadi’s extraordinary contribution to enriching Bangladesh’s musical and cultural heritage through more than five decades of artistic excellence. His distinctive voice, artistic integrity and memorable performances have played a significant role in shaping and elevating Bengali music.

Regarded as one of the foremost figures of the golden era of modern Bangladeshi songs, Hadi has earned widespread admiration for the depth, emotion and refinement of his singing. His timeless melodies have resonated with generations of listeners and secured him a revered place in the country’s cultural landscape.

The Academy noted that despite achieving immense popularity and acclaim, the veteran artiste has remained remarkably humble and publicity-shy throughout his career. His life and work, it said, reflect a rare commitment to artistic devotion over self-promotion.

The special initiative is intended not only to celebrate the excellence of his musical achievements but also to honour his values, wisdom and enduring influence as a cultural icon.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, prominent cultural personalities and renowned artistes from across the country are expected to attend the event, the organisers said.
