Satyajit Ray's 1955 classic Pather Pachali got an extreme makeover from a University of Maryland Professor. Thirty-year old Aniket Bera used artificial intelligence to convert some scenes from Ray's masterpiece into 60 frames per second, Ultra High Definition (4k), colour clips. The process is so efficient that it takes around only 10mins to restore each frame. The entire footage took Bera 6-7 hours to complete. Although this one time experiment wasn't intended to alter the film's aesthetics, film buffs of South Asia are already debating the impact of this technology.
