Visionary film-maker Satyajit Ray's birth centenary is coming up next year. Films Division India has started the celebrations a year earlier with an online film festival starting on the maestro's birthday, May 2.
The festival (May 2-6) will showcase eight rare documentaries on or by Satyajit Ray on Film Division's website and YouTube page.
The Federation of Film Societies India is also celebrating the birth centenary of their founding president starting with a documentary on the director's early western influences.
Ray has won numerous awards for his films, including an honorary Oscar in 1992.
