Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) 2021 has started its film submission process from April 3, 2020, for its 7th season. Like last year, there are three categories: Screening, Competition and One Minute Film.

On 3rd April every year, Bangladesh delightfully observes The National Film Day. For the last six years, DIMFF has begun its film submissions on this auspicious day. Following the trend this year 3rd April 2020, DIMFF has opened its 7th season film submission for 2021.

For the first time, DIMFF 2021 has added an award on Screening category, the DIMFF Best Film Award. Anyone from any place around the world can submit their film in Screening category. In the Competition category, only students from different universities can submit their film; the best film from this category will be awarded Cinemascope Best Film. For the student of school from class 1 to 12 DIMFF has introduced the One-minute film category and the best film from this category will get ULAB Young Filmmaker award.  In the Screening, the film length can be any duration. Competition category films length can be maximum 10 minutes, and in the One Minute film category the films have to be one-minute length. For both the latter categories duration includes title and credit line. The participant cannot submit more than two films. English subtitle is must for the film.

Dr Kabil Khan, Assistant Professor of Media Studies and Journalism Department, ULAB, and also the Advisor of DIMFF said: “Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the world has come to stand still for uncountable days. In that case, to make a film outside is not safe. Last year on DIMFF 2020 some film works were successfully done at home. So, this year it is another big challenge for makers to create a film in zero budget and we encourage producers to make his film in zero cost. Hope we will get films in new vision this year.”

New generation, New tool, New communication – with this slogan Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) started its journey back in 2015. Cinemascope, an apprenticeship program of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), conducts this festival. The main objective of Cinemascope is to encourage people to make films using their mobile phones.

The 7th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) will be held on February 26 & 27, 2021.
