Amar Bhashar Cholochitro 1426 begins on Sunday

Over the course of the festival, West Bengal's renowned filmmaker Anjan Dutt, film director Hashibur Reza Kallol, and the film crews of Iti, Tomari Dhaka, No Dorai, and Kathbirali, will visit the TSC premises

Amar Bhashar Cholochitro 1426 is  going to kick off tomorrow. This five day festival, organized by the Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS), will take place at the TSC premises of Dhaka University. 

Nineteen contemporary and classic feature films, and three short films, will be screened this year. Festoons of quintessential Bangla cinema will be exhibited, and documentaries on the making of these timeless films will be screened as well.

The President of DUFS Ferdous Khan Nirjhar said: "We organize Amar Bhashar Cholochitro  every year to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Bangla Language Movement. This year, a portion of the ticket sales will be spent for the treatment of the ailing language activist Abdul Malek."

The honourable State Minister of Information, Murad Hasan, the moderator of DUFS, Dr AASM Arefin Siddique, the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Film Societies, Lailun Nahar Sammi, and other key film personalities will be present at the inauguration ceremony.

Over the course of the festival, West Bengal's renowned filmmaker Anjan Dutt, film director Hashibur Reza Kallol, and the film crews of Iti, Tomari Dhaka, No Dorai, and Kathbirali, will be there. 

From February 9 to February 13, nineteen feature films will be screened at the TSC premises.  Facebook

On the final day of the festival, in fond memory of the Indian subcontinent's first film director, Hiralal Sen, a film from last year - deemed best by esteemed judges- will be awarded the Hiralal Sen Padak. 

The closing ceremony will be attended by the honorable Bangladesh Minister of Information, Hasan Mahmud, and Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Dr. Md Akhtaruzzaman.   

The curtain will fall for the 19th edition of this festival on February 13.
