Jaya’s film wins National Film Awards in India

Famous actress and model Jaya Ahsan’s latest Indian-Bengali venture Bishorjon grabbed the award for Best Bengali Film in the 64th edition of India’s National Film Awards on April 8.17626689_688209968032103_1760964105937408824_nDirected by Kaushik Ganguly, Bishorjon tells a gripping tale of love beyond the borders, where Jaya portrays the character of a Hindu widow who lives in Bangladesh. On the other hand, another lead actor of the movie, Abir Chatterjee, plays the role of an Indian Muslim. Bishorjon will hit the theatre in India on Bengali new year day (April 14). Jaya has been seen in West Bengal films more than once. Her works in Tollywood also include Arindam Sheel’s Aaborto and Igoler Chokh, Indranil Roychowdhury’s Ekti Bangali Bhoot er Goppo and Srijit Mukherji’s Rajkahini. Having started her career as a model in the late 1990s, Jaya has worked in numerous television dramas, serials and films. She received the National Film Award of Bangladesh twice for her roles in the films Guerrilla and Chorabali. Jaya Ahsan will soon be receiving her third National Award in Bangladesh for her performance in Zero Degree.
