In Dhaka, many wild monkeys were found quarreling with stray dogs and cats while scouring food from dustbins over the last few days. Since most restaurants are closed and human movement is minimal, many animals in the streets go hungry.
Some individuals have taken the initiative to feed monkeys in Old Dhaka and Sher-E-Bangla Nagar.
In a day, with the help of PAW (People for Animal Welfare Foundation, Bangladesh) and Eco Savers Foundation, they fed buns and home prepared food to around 400-500 stray dogs.
They fed about a 100 monkeys bananas, cucumbers and other fruits and vegetables to mitigate their hunger for a day.
They have been feeding strays since March 26 and wish to do so till the end of the shutdown.
These individuals request one all to help neighbouring strays on streets in their areas by keeping extra food on the road so that these poor animals do not starve.
