Update : 06 Feb 2024, 03:38 PM

The 46th BCS preliminary exam is likely to be postponed, according to a reliable source from the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Although the date of the preliminary examination is not fixed, it is expected to take place any time after Eid-ul-Fitr, as reported by the media on Tuesday.

As per the source, the 46th BCS preliminary exam was initially scheduled for March 9. However, the exam date may change due to the elections for Mymensingh and Comilla city corporations also taking place on March 9.

The PSC will conduct a special meeting to address this matter, and a final decision will be made after discussions. Another PSC source informed reporters that conducting both the examination and the election on the same day is not feasible, suggesting that the exams may experience a delay. However, the final decision will be made following the commission meeting.

Ramadan is expected to begin in March, subject to moon sighting, with the holy Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in the second week of April after a month of fasting.

The 46th BCS preliminary examination is planned to be held simultaneously in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh centres.

A total of 338,000 applications have been submitted for the 46th BCS. Out of the 3,140 posts in this BCS, the majority will be filled in the health cadre.

Additionally, 1,682 assistant surgeons and 16 assistant dental surgeons will be recruited.

The education cadre will see significant recruitment, with 520 individuals being hired for BCS education across various subjects.

Furthermore, 274 positions will be filled in administration, 10 in foreign affairs, 80 in police, 14 in Ansar, 26 in fisheries, and 65 in public works.
