Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has decided to conduct the 46th BCS preliminary examination on April 26.
PSC Chairman Mohammad Sohrab Hossain confirmed that the decision was taken in a special meeting of the commission on Sunday.
The preliminary examination of the 46th BCS was scheduled to be held on March 9, but the date was changed due to the city corporation elections.
PSC Chairman Mohammad Sohrab Hossain had earlier informed that the exam will be conducted on or after April 26.
According to PSC sources, it has been decided in the commission meeting to publish the results and take the written exam in a quick time to compensate for the loss of postponing the preliminary exam.
On April 26, the 46th BCS preliminary examination will be held simultaneously in the divisional cities of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh.
According to commission sources, the notification of 46th BCS was published on November 30, 2023. A total of 3,140 people will be appointed in the BCS. The maximum number of assistant surgeons in health cadre will be 1,682, assistant dental surgeons 16, and education cadre 520.
Besides, 274 people will be taken in administration cadre, 10 in foreign affairs, 80 in police, 14 in Ansar, 26 in fisheries and 65 in public works.
A total of 338,000 applications were submitted against a total of 3,140 vacant posts.
